I created a sculpture called “Sona Dene wali Murgi” that highlights the dowry system still present in India. Even today, brides are seen as a source of wealth for the groom’s family. If the bride doesn’t bring enough money, she may face abuse and torture. This hidden form of dowry, often called “लेन-देन ,” shows how a new bride is not welcomed as a family member but is instead viewed as a money maker. If she doesn’t meet these expectations, she’s mistreated.

This sculpture serves as a reminder for people to take action against these harmful practices, even if they happen around their own homes. It encourages everyone to do their best to stop dowry-related abuses by engaging in conversations and solving issues within their communities.
